Aripâ - wip shots/ drawing process

Sep 15, 2012 11:29

On a bit of a break from drawing, but I thought I'd post some of the wip shots for Aripâ (avengers_rbb collab w/ foxxcub ) in case anyone was interested in seeing them. (I always like to look back and see how I got from the initial sketch of a drawing to the finished piece).

If you haven't already...
--> read foxxcub's amazing fic - Aripâ
--> see  the finished artwork

...then see/read my notes on some of the pieces...

The original draft I submitted. I wasn't particularly happy with it, so I ended up re-working it into two other pieces, but kept Clint's pose.

My attempt at animation. I think this was the first thing that I sent foxxcub after I found out she was my author. She took the tattoo idea which I didn't include in my submission because I wasn't sure anyone would like it, and totally ran with it and made it awesome. I'm still amazed she came up with such an awesome story based just off this one drawing. Every drawing that you see in the final post was then based off the very inspiring bits of fic foxxcub would e-mail me.

Some practice sketches of Clint with wings!

I've been challenging myself to work on backgrounds more to make my drawings more complete. I did run out of time towards the end (and got a bit lazy) which is why not every drawing has a background.

This was hands down my favorite piece to do and probably the one I spent the longest on along with the previous piece. Clint's wings were fun. I cheated with the background -- it's pretty much copied and pasted from the scene before it.

Had to draw the scene with them eating Chinese. The table and boxes weren't originally in the drawing, but it was screaming for something to be in the foreground. If I had more time, I probably would have fleshed out the background more and given the whole thing more details-- like adding food in the takeout boxes.

This is the part where they first kiss. I did this one because I was worried I didn't have enough drawings of Clint and Coulson ~together~ (this was before I drew the 2 scenes after this). I didn't really save too many of the in-between wip shots of this scene because it a quicker one to draw. This was when I was kind of running out of time-- so I left the lines loose, switched to a quicker style of coloring, and left it background-less.

... and the rest is history!
