I object to "sin" taxes because they're a damn sight more punitive on the poor than the middle class & wealthy, and because too many damnfool govt's become totally dependent on the monies raised - while simultaneously mouthing 'It's for your own good' blandishments - and then, when people actually *do* quit smoking (or, as you mentioned go elsewhere to but their cigs/booze) and the tax revenues drop, oh, the wailing and howling there is from the institutions that have become dependent on that money.

It's just bloody nonsense.

But thank you for reminding me that it's time to go review what's coming up on the ballot for this year in CA. ;)

You laugh now, but take a look at the other Republican contenders. I bet you don't recognize a single one other than her. I give her even odds of being the Republican nominee.

'Tis true, this will be a "top-2" election. And in a recent poll, Feinstein gets 51%, and the next best vote-getter is at 2%!

I've not yet had a chance to read the props myself, but one thing to bear in mind with the term limits is that when we vote for "new" term limits every 4 years or so, it has each time in the past reset the clock for those currently in office.

I believe it states that the current limits remain effect for current incumbents.
