Bizarre, but it's not like they don't happen all the time - just for once, there was a little media frenzy, and it's a good thing, because campuses are actually paying attention. We're even planning a get together to meet up with our queer students on campus because, really, staff/faculty and students rarely interact outside of some academic setting, so it'd be nice to build a little community for a change.

community in America!!!!!!!!! Blasphemer !

we got rid of that in the nineties when we introduced heavy amounts of stranger danger and date rape and everyone is a molester/pedophile/drug dealer/terrorist/STRANGER!!!!

i miss community. I miss when i was younger and you would get welcoming gifts for new neighbors and introduce yourself to people and have neighbor hood cookouts and people looked out for each other and all that sort of thing... even in our own little communities it seems community is a bad word.

Actually I think it was disbanded in the 70's when those evil Satanic cults were lurking in every classroom and molesting children and suppressing memories.

I'm glad there's movements to pull together. I'm glad we're realising that we need a community.

It does kind of depress me, though, that it feels like we're losing ground these days. The religious right has rallied in both your country and mine, and we're their devil to eradicate. I worry that it's going to get worse before it gets better.
