I absolutely agree it would've worked so much better as more short episodes. Some of the ideas were great, but it felt like being rushed through a tour of a stately home, with lots of good stuff only glimpsed through door on the way past.

I got that impression a lot last year -- only the very simple single-concept episodes (eg Father's Day) really worked as standalone episodes.

Yes. I wonder if there are any two parters planned for this series. It's be nice if they'd stick to simple stories for the single episodes, and save the complicated ones for the two parters.

Looking at Outpost Gallifrey, it looks like eps 5 & 6 form the first two-parter, and RTD (who I think is the worst of the writers so far at story telling as opposed to neat ideas) doesn't get another outing till episode 10.
