It's hard to believe I've been here for two birthdays, already. At least this one ought to be quieter....

[As opposed to the one where she, you know, died. Those who were there for that can guess the reason for the relief in her voice.]I think I'll investigate the battle dome sometime this afternoon. Who has tried it? I'm interested to hear about ( Read more... )

[Hi, Terra, have a small neighbour also inspecting the dome. She had heard her message earlier that day, too, but had been a little busy with school to respond. Now, at least, was an opportunity.]

Terra! Hello! [Jogging over, Zelda gives her a beam.] I heard it was your birthday today!

[Eep! Zelda ducks fast. Thankfully, this isn't Pokemon, where Fire types are resistant to Ice types the shards of ice seem to do the trick - clouds of steam billow off the crowd as they start to drop, Zelda managing to take care of the few that manage to escape.]

That was really good! [she cheers once they're gone, raising her hand to high-five Terra.] There's some tough things up ahead, though.

[Terra stares at Zelda's raised hand before realizing what she means. Then she chuckles and follows suit.]

Oh? What else can we expect?

If you see a clay pot, and it's rocking and shaking... make sure you don't touch it. [TRUST HER, SHE KNOWS FROM EXPERIENCE. Watching Link sort through Like Like guts to retrieve his shield is not something she wishes to relive.]

A clay pot? What's inside it?

[Of course, Terra plans to take Zelda's advice and not pry it open, but it's better to be prepared anyway.]

It's this big tube of really gross gooey-looking stuff, and if it catches you, it can eat your equipment! Link nearly lost his shield!

...oh my. I'll definitely stay away from it, then. This word was a gift.

[She isn't sure if the safety feature extends to equipment, but is not in any mood to find out. So, she just shudders at the thought and follows along.]

Oh... yes, that'd be a good idea.

[Except that once they reach them, they find a new problem. There's no real way across without breaking or moving jars - and with the number that are moving, they're sure to encounter one.]

[Zelda frowns thoughtfully for a moment, then has a sudden idea. Tugging on Terra's arm, she gestures - there's a ledge nearby, high enough to avoid them, with a handy level in between to get up there.]

[It's a bit of a scramble to get up, but still - it's a safe vantage point. Oh, Zelda wishes she had her bow...]

[Word=sword.]

[At the tugging, Terra glances over to where Zelda gestures and nods cautiously.]

Let's give it a try.

[She would teleport them if need be, but Terra intends not to use more magic than she must--and if they can find away around, then they won't need her help. Gesturing for Zelda to go first, she then follows, careful not to lose her footing and also to be ready to help her companion if there is need.]

[Once they're settled, Zelda surveys the view then nods once.] Right! Well, we need to clear a path if we're to get across. Fortunately, we have boomerangs! We can use that to clear the pots away. That will probably let some of them loose.

But then, we can also use the boomerangs to stun them, then hop down and finish them off with the swords. Is your aim very good?

[Terra smiles a tad sheepishly.]

I've never tried using boomerangs before. But if that's what works best on them, I'll try. Does magic work well against them, too?

Hmm... I've never actually tried! [Thoughtfully, she gazes out.] How about we try it up here, and if it stuns them, then we go and finish them off?

Let me putting them to sleep....

[She focuses a moment, then casts her Sleep spell. It can be pretty hit-or-miss, but she figures it's worth a try. At the very least, it might clear their way a little.]

[Zelda watches intently, then relaxes slightly as the jars mostly stop rocking.] I think it worked! [she says excitedly, then readies her boomerang.] Now, let's see how it went...

[And it's off! A path is cleared as pottery shards go everywhere - unfortunately, there's also two Like Likes oozing out.]

...Ew.

[As she watches, though, they start to sluggishly stir - Zelda gives Terra a dismayed look.] Maybe you should try it again? Maybe the pot blocked it a bit...

[Terra stares at them in revulsion, then nods.]

That happens sometimes, anyway. Sleep doesn't always affect all the targets.

[She would try to fix that, though, casting her spell again.]

[Well, they look pretty sluggish.] Cover me? [Zelda murmurs, and carefully slips off the edge. The closest one, mostly slumped over, gets a couple of swipes before it dissolves into goo, making Zelda jump back in disgust.]

[Hmm... the other one's starting to stir, so she scrambles back up the ledge before it wakes up fully.] Got one!
