Seas of Sand

Tittle: Seas of Sand
Fandom: Star Wars (canon)
Rating: PG-13, maybe? Probably less, actually, I don't think there's anything that would rise it up.
Warnings: Nothing that I can think of.

Summary: The nights of Tatooine are always, always cold. (Not as cold as he is, though. Never as cold as he is.) My take on Obi-Wan's years in exile.

This piece was pretty much created because of how I always thought Obi-Wan must've felt awefully guilty for what happened with Anakin. He's the kind of character to take blame upon him even if it might not be very deserved. And all those years spent practically just waiting for Luke to grow up... it couldn't have been easy.

I'm not sure if it's canon or just somewhat popular fanon, but there are quite a few fics (if my memory serves) that mention Anakin having dreams about Qui-Gon as a young padawan, but then consciously pushing them away because something bad happened. Again, I don't know if this is canon. My personal theory is that Qui-Gon wasn't strong enough to contact anyone sooner, partly because of the dark side hanging around everywhere even before the war.

Anywa, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for commenting. ^^

The ending made me say "awww".

I just wanted to hug Obi-Wan all the way through the story.

I enjoyed the story. :)

Good to know you found the ending nice. I wanted it to be something between sad and happy, and apparently, it didn't go tottally wrong. ^^

I loved how you showed the transition from the prequel Obi-Wan to the "strange old hermit" of ANH, and his train of thought during all those years (especially the fragments of thoughts since we do think in fragments, and it makes it all sound even more true).

Also, the last line is great.

I'm happy you think the transition comes off well. I wasn't really sure if it was too fragmented, actually, but nice it works with you at least! ^^ (And yes, I suppose, we do think in fragments.)

And thanks for the review!

Lovely fic, and so painfully sad, not only because he's alone but because he never works out the truth of what happened, just carries on being confused and blaming himself.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

Yeah, I assume it couldn't have been easy to live all those years alone, questioning what went wrong and who's responsible in the very end, and that's what I tried to convey. So it's good to know it worked.

And thanks for the review!^^
