I am thinking of my high school friend DeVaughn, who always swore that he would be the first black president of the United States. I'm wondering - is he still out there, jealous as can be? I must admit that as well received as Obama was at the polls, it may have been a little tougher for Americans to elect a black, Jewish, gay man. (Sorry ( Read more... )

I recently found out that DeVaughn died some years ago, took his own life. I was randomly clicking about on LJ and came upon this post and...ugh. I can't believe I'll never see him again.

I'm so sorry :( Had a similar experience a few years ago. Went looking and found out he'd died young; at least he left behind a book of poetry.
