Today has been one of those days. Nothing bad happened, nothing particularly good happened. My lesson today was informative, definitely, but overwhelming. But, surprisingly, I didn't tear up at all. Not once. Progress? Let's hope so. Don't know yet ( Read more... )

"Willing Female Singer" makes me think of a personal ad. Willing Female Singer Looking For Fabulous Piece, etc.

Also, I don't like pointing out spelling mistakes because I'm sure I make many of them, but "staring a blog" made me giggle a little bit because I got a mental image of getting into a staring contest with LiveJournal. Just wanted to let you know. :-)

Advice for remembering to include amazon and itunes purchases: keep your accounting method, or wherever/whatever it is you use to keep track of your budget, near your computer. I've gone basically without a budget since graduation because, not having a desk on which to keep my computer, everything was kind of in a constant state of moving around. Now that I finally have a desk, I have a logical location for all of it -- including the budget, which I've been keeping up to date since the desk got here. Which makes me excited. Which made me want to share with you in the form of advice. :)

Thanks! Mine is actually right next to my computer. Should I write it on post-its and file it with the receipts? What do you do?

Mine's just a paper record in a notebook. And I'm a paranoid crazy person when it comes to receipts -- I always imagine someone digging through my trash, finding one that was a debit or credit transaction, and figuring out the necessary info to steal my identity -- SO

For purchases that were normal and with receipt and all, if I don't have time to record it immediately, I stash the receipt in the notebook until I do have time to do so, after which I destroy the receipt by shredding it into a million tiny pieces. Anything that wasn't a normal purchase with receipt (like student loan payments online), I subtract out when I do it, basically.

*note -- that's part of why I keep the notebook near my computer. For the online stuff. Which is actually pretty rare for me, I don't like to do transactions online. But I'm a weirdo, I know. :)
