"You can be sweet and shy, or bold and physical. You can be silly and friendly, or reserved and studious. You can be strong and hard working, or artistic and beautiful." She is, at least subconsciously, pairing the ponies as I had described as opposites: "sweet and shy [Fluttershy], or bold and physical [Rainbow Dash]... silly and friendly [Pinkie Pie], or reserved and studious [Twilight Sparkle]... strong and hard working [Apple Jack], or artistic and beautiful [Rarity]"
Yea, the Magic v. Laughter is the one I'm still working out. I can't quite figure out how it is that they are opposites. I have some theories but they are not as stark a contemplation as Generosity v. Honesty or Kindness v. Loyalty.
I see these two as being opposite ends of a power spectrum. Magic is generally seen and portrayed as a power to trump all other powers. It is expressed with a level of mystery and from that mystery comes the magic. On the other end of the spectrum is laughter, also a great power. People say that laughter has the power to heal, the power to create anew, it is the power of positive thought. Laughter comes through understanding and knowledge. Jokes and comedy come from a place of understanding. We take things we know, and pervert them. In the understanding that something is not as it should/would be, comes the power of laughter.
