Haha yeah that's why I liked that first picture! He told me later he was thinking everytime he had to run back for another fish he watched the waves because he wished he was surfing instead :)
The situation with the steelhead is... THe Carmel Lagoon naturally has always swollen with rain just when the fish are ready to flow down a breeched stream out to the ocean (they're similar to salmon.) But here the lagoon is surrounded by rich people's houses and if nature were to occur the homes would be flooded. So the lagoon has to be breeched by man before the fishes are ready, and if there's not enough rain, the lagoon won't be livable throughout summer. So they keep watch over the fish and when they're ready they net the fish, bucket them and run them to the ocean over the sand (because there's not enough water to breech it.) It's a big controversy over here, because it's messing with nature but it's endangered etc and the mansions that surround it and prevent natural life. IT was neat to watch!

What exactly do they do when they save the steelhead?
And I just what to dive into that water with the kelp in it. It looks so clear and cool and beautiful.
