Myshuno! 2013 Prompt: “Emptiness” (125 words)

Oct 12, 2013 10:45

The prompt for this story was “Emptiness” submitted by smoothiesims. This story fits in just before Chapter 1 of Sun, Moon, and Tamara. (Which hasn't been released yet, but will be soon.)

Rating: G

Dramatis Personae
Tamara Langerak, new occupant, recent graduate, and on her own for the first time.
Sally Couderc, her mother.

Setting
The doorway of Tamara’s new apartment. Tamara’s parents are just leaving.

SALLY: (hesitates) Are you sure you’ll be okay?
TAMARA: I’ll be fine.
SALLY (dubiously): Don’t you want us to take you to get some furniture?
TAMARA: Nope. I’ll take care of it, thanks. (hugs Sally) Bye, Mom. Love you.
(Tamara eases the door shut behind Sally and looks at the apartment: painted landlord white and completely empty save for the built-in fixtures, one suitcase, and one box of shoes. Tamara’s smile grows broader and broader until she can no longer contain herself. Tamara squeals and jumps up and down, clapping her hands, before running through the echoing rooms, whooping with glee. When she reaches the main room again, she spins in circles, laughing, until she falls over.)
TAMARA: (smiling at the ceiling) Home sweet home!
