The prompt for this story was “Painting the town red,” submitted by dicreasy. This story fits into the multiple chapters of Already in Progress and 100 Days of Awesome. (It’ll make sense when you read it.)
I was a little worried that the format wouldn't work, but I'm glad it did. :)
Jumping in somewhere is kind of how the story is designed to work. :P If you don't remember Vlad and Elaine, you're probably lucky -- I was still trying to Write Serious Drama at that point, and it ended in a very poorly-staged murder-suicide. *hides in mortification*
Yeah, it can be hard to keep track of all the relationships in a story this spread out. I have a family tree on Tribal Pages, and I use it for reference all the time. (I didn't need it for who was the parent of who in this one, but I did need it for pre-married names!) EDIT: And remembering everyone at all in the first place is *extremely* impressive and deserves some type of award! *hands Katri a cupcake*
Of course Descartes and Abbey's was the best -- they are made of Awesome plus Win! :P
That was kind of the effect I was going for... Vlad and Elaine would never have managed to paint the town more than a tepid pastel pink on their best day. :P
Of course they would -- they bonded over "The King and I" after all. (And now you're making /me/ want waffles...!)

I don't remember Vlad and Elaine, but I think I literally just jumped into the story at some point, rather than reading from the beginning xD
Great work, Esme! :D
