That is really awesome. (Well, not so awesome that there seems to be no present-day equivalent :\ )

I think I (and most people) tend to underestimate the importance of just having a certain lifestyle/self presentation in the public sphere at *all*, I mean even if they're not toted as "stellar role models", just seeing people of all different flavors that you can admire and relate to, is so important.
