What about The Name Of The Rose by Umberto Eco? A brilliant Historic novel (700 pages).

The House Of Spirits by Isabel Allende is a real recommendation too.

Thanks :)

I have always wanted to read The Name Of The Rose, but never taken my time to do it. But a great idea :)

Seconding House of Spirits

'Pillars of the Earth' by Ken Follett. It sounds boring, a story about the building of a cathedral in England, but it's amazing, a generation story with romance, bloodshed, sexiness etc. It's a beautiful, beautiful book.

'The Other Boleyn Girl' by Phillipa Gregory, English historical novel of awesomeness.

'Tipping the Velvet' by Sarah Waters, sexiest, funniest, most dramatic lesbian novel about a girl-cross-dresser in Victorian London. Amazing, and strangely honest.

I have more if you need 'em ;)

Oh, and of course;

Oscar Wilde - Poems

Oscar Wilde - The Portrait of Dorian Gray

Emily Dickinson - Assorted Poems

Nafsi - Reading Lolita in Tehran

Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman - Good Omens

Neil Gaiman - American Gods

I'll shut up and go 'way.

Am seconding "The Other Boleyn Girl" A great historical fiction novel!

And if you haven't already read them, the Shopaholic series is so funny and great to read. I got the first one for Christmas last year and I'm glad I did! :D

The Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King. Intriguing adventure novel (and it's not horror in case you were wondering...hehe)

Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood by Rebecca Wells - it's MUCH better than the movie (which, IMO, was horrible)

The Kitchen God's Wife by Amy Tan

I might comment later if I think of more! But the first one is a MUST-READ!
