Great Aunt Mary passed away last night.

I learned this afternoon by email. Email - the new era.

Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer the telephone.

I've just learned that my Great Aunt Mary is in the hospital, in what sounds like critical condition. She needed an emergency operation on her bowels, and is barely conscious.

She has a do not resuscitate order and a living will - she's a member of the Hemlock Society so we are pretty sure this is the end of a long life. I think she is somewhere ( Read more... )

I will be gone, gone, gone after 4 today. I'll be visiting my lovely sister in a tiny little town.
