Thankful for farmers

Safely back from Canada, where I was visiting my sister, her partner, and my niece. There was, as always an amazing meal of locally grown food, work on the farm, crafts, and music.

We just bought a half-bushel of acorn squash

To go with our... umpteen thousand bushels of apples!

Ha ha! She has.... I do not want to think about how many apples. I think they have 60 - 100 trees on the property... So, lots!

We did tree protection for young nut trees, so the field mice do not strip off all the bark, and I helped de-seed about 12 spaghetti squash (my sister will sell the seeds, they were from the hand-pollinated flowers).

It was a good and quiet vacation, for values of quiet that include a nearly 3 year old.
