Being productive

Aside from the continuous need to get ever more resumes sent out, I've gotten a fair bit done lately.

Went to my favorite beach to go Shell-hunting for silver_spider. Got the shells into a diluted bleach solution, so as not to send him germs. Still need to sort and label stuff, then off to the post office ( Read more... )

Will think of you when we go to LL Bean tomorrow -- you ever think of getting a transfer back to NY State?

Enjoy your trip. I know the governer of New York wants L.L. bean charging sales tax there, but we don't really see a penny of that tax. From what I hear the Albany store will be open 24 hours a day for this weekend only.

L.L. Bean doesn't pay me quite enough for me to pay my bills- I've got this debt from a master's degree. And in Albany it defnintely wouldn't, as I get an extra dollar per hour after 6:00 PM (and I mostly work 4:00 PM until midnight).

Plus, the Albany store is not likely to have a L.L. Home department. I really like working there, and selling clothes might be less fun.

I did apply for two jobs at SUNY Albany (and just got the rejection letters) and one as another institution of higher learning in Troy (but haven't heard from them in a month, darn it).

LL Bean shouldn't see a penny of the tax, 'cause it's tax right?

The universities in Troy are the only ones I actually know anything about. I lived across from one and worked on the other's campus (not as a university employee) when I first moved here. Which one in Troy?

The techie one, with the long name.

I don't publicly post about where I have applied (or where I interview) as this journal can theoretically be traced back to me, and that sort of thing is seen as bad form. Someone gave a description of his (successful) job search on the LIS departmental listserve, and he got taken to task for his unprofessionalism in mentioning the name.

The short story, probably. The actual piece is more like a novel (currently untitled) and is currently 28 pages single spaced...

Rock Paper Scissor

Do they have a website or are they too small and local?
I love Japanese stationary and accessories that are cute, like ones that have san-x or sanrio characters on them or happy food characters.

I have no idea what the items you like are... it's all Greek (erm, Japanese) to me.

An article on the store: http://wiscassetnewspaper.maine.com/2001-08-02/new_business.html

One website for a decopage company lists the phone number (and the one for the owner's other shop) as: Smitten & Rock, Paper, Scissor - 207 882 9930 - Wiscasset

Maybe call them? Googling did not turn up a site.
