I think I like that the collage could be a field of flowers, a quilt, magazines or really anything. It's her realm. I bet the person who asked you to do this will be thrilled. All those colors are a great contrast to the black and white of the cat.

and ya, because the cat was so starkly colored, i wanted the background to be busy and relatively lush. if the cat was a tabby or calico or more visually active, i would've flipped
it to make the background much more subdued :)
