I'm going to guess that the stuff you like is the way the colors are working together. There seems to be a lot of primaries that are coming together in a very non-primary way. Also, with the underlying texture, this is very painterly, with lots of brushstrokes working together and against each other which to me is always seductive. The blues and browns match wonderfully and the red bar, which I'm guessing is the part you were 'slopping on' kind of makes a statement. I kind of like this, too. Just as it is. Even if it isn't 'pretty,' it's interesting, makes me pause and think.

I just want to add a monocle to it. I think it's the handlebar mustache that's doing it.

Maybe paint the monocle, maybe do some assemblage, depends on the size of the piece...
