I am currently watching Lilo & Stitch and working on that Lilo and Stitch/Buffy the Vampire Slayer Nani/Buffy WIP. I want to stay up writing it, but I really need to get to bed soon. I have a ton of things to do before the Superbowl party tomorrow night, and a two hour meeting in the middle of the afternoon

And now I want to write about Lilo and Myrtle when they're teenagers and obviously bickering because they are in love.

I thought I was the only one 'shipping Lilo/Myrtle!

I was trawling google for some Myrtle icons (I have yet to find even one) to use for a slashthedrabble fic I wrote, and its prequel, which I'm writing at this moment. Not this exact moment, but--well, you get it.

(I stumbled across you by googling "lilo and stitch icons myrtle", in case you're wondering.)

All of this babble is just to say--if you wanna read it, write it. I've wanted to slash them since the first time I saw the movie, and I'm finally getting 'round to it.

(Also, why are they letting the little white girl boss them around? Seriously?)

Lilo's the only one who doesn't. The dynamic between them as teenagers? Would be awesome. So write it ;)

I'll certainly be keeping an eye out for it, if you don't mind.

In an insane moment of "Wow, small world", I saw your Myrtle/Lilo story linked on one of the femslash communities and read it from there. When I went to rec it, I wanted to reference this post, so pulled it up, and then saw your comment. Crazy stuff.

Anyway, I do intend to write the story, it's been added to my To Write list. It's probably going to be awhile, but feel free to stick around. (I'll try to remember to specifically comment here again to let you know when it's done, but I can be bad about that.)

I really do want to explore the whole white girl in Hawaii versus local girl in Hawaii dynamic. It's such an interesting one.

That something I haven't touched on, really, though in a future story, that's got a few bits and bobs written, Myrtle does wonder what Lilo sees in a gawky, pale, carrot-haired girl, when they're surrounded by beautiful, exotic people.

But there are serious depths to be plumbed, not just angsty romantic ones. One feels isolated because of her race, the other because of the secrets she has to keep . . . deep waters, indeed.

And the prequel to the drabble is up in my journal. It's a full short fic--it was like giving birth to a fifteen pound baby, lol.

It was recced here, in the femslash_today community, which is my favorite community because it brings so much fic to my attention.

There's a prequel? Excellent! I should save it until after I do my reading for class, but -- no. Lilo/Myrtle fic is way better than reading for civil procedure.

I wonder if that's part of why Myrtle is so abrasive, because she is isolated because of her race, and even though her followers defer to her, there will be lots and lots of local kids who won't. I'll have to think about that some more.
