“No, if I was Naomi, I’d be calling you right now because my latest psychic friend saw you stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire and a flat spare,” Jim shot back easily.

*giggles* This was great! I like how ambiguous their relationship was at first- or would have been, if you hadn't made it clear in the header that it was an established relationship. *g*

Ah, yeah, I wasn't exactly sure I was going to make it established relationship at first... Maybe I should go take that out of the header and surprise people :)

Interesting spin on their relationship. They are spouses and therefore, want to do nice things for each other and keep each other safe. However, the "male thing" like I can do this myself gets in the way of the "love thing". Spouses or not they are still men with lots of pride. Gotta love those boys.

Thank you so much :). I tried to make the argument as "realistic" as possible for two macho guys like Blair and Jim.

I'm glad that it translated well.

The fascist state of Ellison?

This made me grin and the story as a whole made me heave a happy sigh.

I was thinking as I typed out the Sentinel Thursday post that if you were having trouble with your glasses a reader might see 'spare tire' rather than 'spare time'. Of course, I come from a place where 'tire' only applies to tiredness. 'Tyre' is still what you put on the car. *g*

Also, I was wondering whether you'd thought about posting your stories to one of the TS archives. Not everyone reads on LJ - yes, I know, the horror, *g* plus it's always nice to have fic spread around as many places as possible, especially in the light of the Geocities shutdown.

LoL - well, I actually saw the "time" part and for some reason started thinking about bowling, as in "Time to get that spare, man."

But... I just could make a story out of that. Then I realized that "spare" could also mean tire, so I figured that it was time for Blair to get a new spare.

I'm twisted, I know.

(And I was as consfused as all get-out the first time that I saw "tyre" in a fic. I kept thinking it was a typo until the author used it again.)

ETA: I didn't see the last segment of your post before now :) I have thought about archiving elsewhere, but (this is so embarassing here) I'm terrified of borking something up on an auto archiver. I, how shall I put this, I tend to make things blow up when I try something new. Remember my last fic post? Yeah...

I do agree with you that I really should put my stories somewhere else as something could happen to LJ. I'll just have to get over my cowardly streak here.

852 Prospect is a grand old lady of fandom archives, but ASR3 does at least have the option to edit your post if you screw up. (Not that I'm biased about ASR3 or anything, given I'm a mod... *g*) Besides, if you don't post late at night when you're tired you'll be fine. :-)

lol, well there is that.

Umm, I feel horrible asking given that you're a mod and I should know this, but what is the web addy for ASR3?

I loved this exploration of this facet of their relationship. Perfect. Blair is so used to others NOT doing anything for him that he thought it was fine to quip the "well, you buy it" and Jim using it as the opening to do what he wanted to do for Blair. In fact, if Blair hadn't allowed Jim to purchase the tire outright, I'm sure that Jim would have bought the tire at another time and slipped it into Blair's car. After all, Blair wouldn't have noticed it until the next time he had a flat and who knows when that would happen.

“No, if I was Naomi, I’d be calling you right now because my latest psychic friend saw you stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire and a flat spare,” Jim shot back easily.

That's my favorite line!! Brings much laughter and agreement!

Oh, I'm very certain that Jim would've bought the tire anyway. he's sneaky covert ops after all, and he has to keep his guppy safe :)

Interesting look at the dynamics of their relationship and the way they give in and don't.

yeah, I tried to be a bit different with my approach. Given that I don't read established relationships a lot, I seem to be playing with them as of late.
