Cartoon Network just announced their 2008/09 lineup with a new Batman: The Brave and the Bold cartoon, and espanolbot pointed out something interesting about it.

Gee, one of these heroes looks familiar...

Wow, awesome. I wonder if they resolved the licensing issues that prevented Beetle from appearing in the Justice League cartoons, or if those issues just don't apply because they were specific to Ted and/or Dan.

I think those issues stopped being issues in the last year or so.

I believe they were specific to the name - it didn't have anything to do with either actual character. But it wore off in '06, I believe.

So I've been kicking this around my head all day and I haven't stopped smiling yet. Our boy's hit the big time! Sure, he's not going to be on the show all the time, but he's still one of the characters they're using to sell it. And, really, a young and high-powered hero is a good sell to the target audience. He's a natural choice, really.

He'll probably be the "kid-focussed" character, the Bumblebee of the group. Which isn't bad, bcause he'll be used to show kids how to use their initiative, while learning from others. He'll get some jokey lines, and grow up over the series.

I just wish his eyes were yellow in that pic. The red really bugs me XD

He was up late studying for a test and helping evacuate people from a fire downtown! You try getting through that without red eyes! XD
