The German Example - Economic Scene - NYTimes.com

My German bias naturally draws me to articles like this. But I also wonder how the German government strives to be prudent without putting major dents in its public image. Do German gripe over, say, high retirement ages too? How do Germans strike a balance?

Time to get some clothes ironed.

random (occasionally interesting) things, introspective, deutsch!

Maybe you can try asking the German family you stayed with (if I rmb correctly...) if you still keep in contact with them. I'll like to know too =P

Haven't contacted them in ages! I remember one of the things that struck me about Germans during exchange was how they seemed to maintain so much better work-life balance than us. *_*

I think I read somewhere that they're super punctual and really keep to the clock. Like when they say they'll end work at 5, they really work till 5 but won't work overtime. Which may or not be beneficial if you're the person receiving the service.

It's true! In Germany they were never late when we met up for stuff.
