I am the total opposite. Whenever I have music playing, I end up singing along and then nothing gets written :p Although if I do, it's so quiet I can barely hear it. I don't really choose what I listen to based on its mood, though. Usually if I'm writing Kurt/Blaine I'll listen to the Warblers album, but, saying that, if I'm trying to write for my other fandom, listening to their music doesn't help at all. Weird.
I'm excited to read this Klaine you're writing though. Keep going with it! <3
I've tried writing to the Warblers album, but I grin like an idiot when Darren sings so I get distracted. And most of the album is pretty upbeat so that doesn't work for me. Same with the AVPM soundtrack.
I think the music is more because I used to write a lot at night, mostly between 2 and 5 a.m. and at night it was so damn quiet that I couldn't stand it so I would put on music low enough not to wake anyone but just loud enough so that I could hear. And it became a thing.
I will be surprised if I finish it before September, honestly. It's 12K so far (had to delete lots due to re-writes siiigh) and nowhere near done. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly I'm trying to tell. It is a fun time in my brain right now lol but glad it has an audience already ^_^
And I totally know that feeling. I have over 14K on a Klaine fic I'm working on and I still don't know where I'm going with it, yet stuff is happening. We should probably fix these things :P
I know, right? There have been several moments of, "Wait, what are you doing? Come back here!" as they run off in crazy, new directions (har, har). It is so weird.
Hoping to break 15K today, depending on how long the inspiration decides to stick around. My previous nice and angsty playlist on Pandora has suddenly becoming distressingly upbeat. This is not good.
I can only write when it's silent. I CAN write with music in the background if it's just instrumental, but not with anything that actually has lyrics. Too distracting. I know quite a lot of people, though, who write while listening to music. I always find it interesting to find out about other people's writing habits.
