Luminus have been giving me grief about the bramble hedge under the kitchen window recently. I've just been out and trimmed it down a bit so it is not covering anything. I find it amazing that they only want to come in and talk when a bramble branch gets a foot longer. I have only see the local warden once since I moved in six years ago and that ( Read more... )

People have way too much time on their hands in your neighborhood.

Time to play Devils Advocate since having worked for Luminus (HHP). Although your tenancy is Assured (You have the property until you either move out or die) there are rules and regulations you agreed to abide to by signing the tenancy agreement. One of the requirements is you keep your garden in a tidy condition. If you don't then you are always going to have them on your back.

As for not seeing one of the Street Wardens, they do not do home visits on those that are fit & well unless requested. They patrol the areas looking for any graffiti, dumped rubbish, anti social behaviour, making visits to secure accomodation and yes.....unkept gardens.

If you owned your property then I would agree that the council/social housing could not enforce you to tidy it up however as you rent it, then as any landlord would, request that you keep the property as tidy as possible.

Sorry if this offends in any way

With regards to the Warden, I was told they would make occasional visits not to check up but just see that everything was ok and I was happy with the neighbourhood. Not complaining there but get told one thing and then nothing happens.

As for the garden, what about my wishies? Ok, i don't want an untidy garden (and this time it appears to be the hedge under the windows which I have now trimmed back) but they should leave people alone unless there is a real issue.

I think it comes down to what you believe is a tidy garden compared to what the landlords believe. Unfortunatly they have you by the short & curlies. Good news is that you won't have to do any gardening with winter on it's way.
