I've been reading quite a few LJ reviews of last nights Dr Who, and coupled with the general attitudes towards the new series, I have to throw my hands in the air and wonder why some people even bother watching the show if they can't let suspension of disbelief take over and just enjoy it for what it is.

It does make me quite angry sometimes.

I watched Dr Who on IPlayer when I got home and loved it. Can't see what people have a problem with.

It was a few peoples moans that making the Romans speak contempary English (despite anyone with half a braincell knows that the TARDIS translates for you) and that the Romans knew about the volcano and how the BBC aren't trying anymore.

I just got so angry. Suspension of disbelief here people.

Thing is, to be truthfull I stopped watching Doctor WHo halfway through Tennant's 2nd series as the Doctor. The writing, for me, began to deteriorate. I caught the Christmas Special (the one with Kylie was ok). TO me, the Doctor has been made the hero of all humankind too often and he has lost that 'vulnerability' and child like personality that shone through before. I was going to give this new series a go until I heard that Catherine Tate was the companion. Bleurgh!

But you shouldnt worry about what others think Colin. If it floats your boat then all power to you friend!!!

Im feeling all forlorn at the prospect of no more Supernatural now until October :(

Its aimed at a different generation now. Those of us who remember classic who I'm sure don't get on so well with a single 45 minute story/time slot. The writing under RTD has got iffy at times, so I hope that when he drops out soon, they replace him with someone who knows what they are doing.

some folks love to complain! I like some of the concepts from the new who - though I do confess that I haven't watched any full new episodes in the last year or so. (they're being stored up on the ol' tivo, though... just no time!

Its not just Dr Who. It seems to be everything these days. Theres a reason its called science fiction... you just sit back, watch the SFX, listen to cheesy but cool dialogue and be entertained. I think people are forgetting that.

You could be right... my biggest compliant these days is acting ability and realistic dialogs... If it has those, I'm pretty easy.
