Critiques (for what they're worth):
The body armour bit screamed exposition. Maybe provide some narative use for it from the outset (tripping and falling, somebody bumps into her, needing to 'recalibrate' it for some random reason).
I found my credibility meter stretched that someone could grab a hand then run for so long and miss the huge pay-off - what about a bit more internal monologue covering that journey. Maybe, even, just leave the cliff-hanger at "Run!"
