Yeah, I was a tad cynical about the Obama "It gets better" video until I saw that he was finally pushing to repeal it. Now I'm all cynical about it again. If you're serious about repealing a law, isn't having it struck down as unconstitutional a bit of a fucking *gift*? "Yes, you're right, it's unconstitutional ad we shall remove it at once". There, wasn't that easy?

There is a sort of "defend executive authority" argument one might be institutionally inclined to run, except this is Congressional power which is being defended, so even that does not seem to work. And now he is apparently putting effort into the DADT repeal.

One of the biggest drops in support for Democrats of any group was gay Americans (Republicans going from 19% to 31% of the gay vote is actually quite a big shift: particularly as they are not exactly angling for that voting demographic, to put it mildly) and a lot of that was "and we have got what, exactly, from all that hope and change? I am now going to vote my wallet ..."

Obama seems to be not consistently anything really. He is not liberal enough to keep liberals happy but far too liberal for conservatives and his Chicago corporatism really does not play for most of the US. My guess is there is a certain amount of "no there, there" to quote Gertrude Stein and it shows up in a lack of coordination within the Executive.
