A nice post on chatting with an ordinary British squaddie on the train.

About the Anglosphere’s long tradition of (unsuccessful) intellectual dissent against (successful) war efforts which would not be tolerated in other societies.

Israel has announced it will confiscate the ships that attempt to run the Gaza blockade.

A crucial development, and a very welcome one! The ships are themselves a major investment, especially because they probably won't be able to retain their insurance under such circumstances. Confiscating the ships will prevent repeat attempts using the same ships, and impose a heavy cost on the blockade-running organizations. If Israel can resell them on the open market, the blockade-runners will be helping to finance the blockade; even if they can't, they are being denied to the foe.

Aha, so the Hamas higher ups can afford chocolate and other luxuries, but do not want to share with the average Gazan. Again, a clear case of Hamas being the ones to keep the Gaza strip oppressed. / irony /tongue in cheek

I am glad that the Israelis are going to start confiscating the ships. I wonder if they will use them in the proposed humanitarian flotilla for the Turkish Kurds.... I think they should. Ooh, snap!
