Yep, the digital age is here when they do trailers for analog products! Friend of mine released a book, Gamers Quest, and here is his book trailer.

He can't be the Antichrist, he is not gay :)

I was getting all excited about the poll, then I noticed it was an online survey, which puts it firmly in the "dubious results" category.

There is also the matter of picking your madness: one third of Democrats apparently believe Dubya knew about 9/11 in advance.

The notion that parts of the US government apparatus somehow knew about 9/11 in advance and wanted for the purpose of justifying invading, of all places, Afghanistan does not make sense at any level. Iraq does not make much more sense.

As for not knowing: the possibility of keeping that sort of secret indefinitely is pretty remote.

Regarding the Abbott article, it does misrepresent the case in some particulars - this article provides something of a corrective as regards the abortion issue, and also highlights the actual difference between the way Rudd and Abbott approach their respective faiths. Even if, as the Australian claims, Abbott's faith is not prescriptive, his phrasing when discussing it often makes it sound as if it were - if that is not his intention, he should really make an effort to change that.

Also, humility is not a quality much associated with Abbott, on any subject.

Finally, and tangential to the rest of the article, why do assorted media outlets persist in discussing 'the media' as if they were not a part of it? I understand the need for media analysis, but it's disingenuous to draw this false distinction, and yet nearly every media outlet does it (regardless of nation, political orientation, or whatever).

The article you linked to misrepresents what went on: everyone understood that was Tony being Tony, not some deliberate plan by the Howard Government. (There was no wider follow up, you might remember: the RU-whatever controversy was also Tony being Tony.)

Kelly was making a wider point about presumptions and avoidances rather than saying they were absolutely identical. The wider media culture does not help--Laurie Oakes asking Tony a question about evolution was just silly, for example. Creationism is a Protestant (and Muslim) pathology.

As for 'the media', quite: it is a sloppy usage but, as many sloppy usages are, quick and easy.
