I washed my gambison

While an act of generosity towards other people's olfactory nerves (there is something to Sparhawk's comment that it is an advantage if your opponent's eyes are watering), that was a mistake. My gambison has now shrunk. While still technically SCA legal, it no longer meets across my stomach or chest. So not suitable for schools anymore. Which ( Read more... )

An idea!

If the "G" is not actually worn out, one could sew an extra padded piece on the front to bridge the gap. It could incorporate a new fastening as well. That way all the existing points and laces could be kept.

I made a custom fencing jacket for my hubby based on the pattern for a gambison. The lining was quilted red tartan and the outside was a tough cotton drill(but we did use velcro for the closing of the garment). I welcome the opportunity to do custom work, if you would like me to quote you based on the materials you would want me to use.

After the dog ate my gambeson, I successfully put a olacket in mine... I cant sew for nuts and it was doable with a few hours of hand sewing
