Free mussels!

One of my favourite local cafe/restaurants, Pistacchio, gave me a large bag of free mussels.

I need to do something with them. Involving cooking. Any offers of help or suggestions?

DIY Gumbo, if you can find okra at this time of year.

clean them if they are not already. Big pan, splash white wine, handful herbs, garlic if I'm not eating them. Lid. Steam until they open

Eat- with bread and butter is lovely.

What montjoye said - wine, herbs, steam and eat. Or steam and serve over pasta, then eat. Herbs can be whatever you think will taste good, and just garlic, parsley & butter is good too.

You probably already know this part, but toss out any broken/badly cracked ones, and any that are open and don't close when you tap them - those ones are dead. Wow, I haven't cooked mussels for..*thinks*..fifteen years!
