A sociologist followed around a gangleader for 6 years doing his Ph.D: this has its worrying aspects.

One of the "worrying aspects" that occurs to me is that, apparently, law enforcement is deciding to treat him as if he has some strange right to aid and abet major felonies, simply because he's a "scientist." This is the same attitude that has shielded the perps of horrors like the Tuskegee syphillis experiments and the controlled biowarfare experiments of the 1950's from prosecution, and it's a very bad one -- a sort of regression to feudalism.

Nice link about flags. I was just considering the topic the other day and how crap some flags are, often because they choose ridiculous colour schemes or are far too busy. Also, I would agree with the author that Australia's flag is barely passable. Honestly, it's time for Australia to seriously look at its flag. It's so insipid.
