Spring in the air (temporarily)

Last Friday, Angie and I took the day off together. It was supposed to be a nice (warm) day and we were going to go to Six Flags. Unfortunately, Six Flags isn't open on Fridays until later in the year. But it was good that I checked in advance so that we didn't make the trip for no reason. But we decided to still take the day off and go ( Read more... )

Jabba has a really nice personality... except when:
a) he whines a half hour before our alarm because he's hungry,
b) whines at night because he's hungry,
c) rolls on top of puzzles, crosswords, newspapers, circulars, etc to remind us how much cuter he is than whatever we were doing,
d) uses me as a scratching post,
e) lots of other stuff!

Even though, he's probably my favorite (don't tell anyone!).

So out of curiosity I googled Taiwanese sausages. They look like kielbasa - is that about right?

Any tips for someone who has been toying with the idea of a bonsai tree for a while now?

In my mind, Taiwanese ones are greasier and less salty. If you want to be authentic, try them with raw garlic.

I actually have given a few to my wife (none for myself). She's killed a few (mainly leaving it outside at the wrong times). I think she'll trim the branches every few weeks/monthly in the spring/summer. She just repotted and trimmed some roots and will give it time to recover before doing the branches again. That probably isn't really good information, but it kind of seems like a normal plant that you just cut every so often.

We found baby snails wandering around too! We're going to need a bigger tank... or keep pushing aquatic animals on my relatives.
