Spiritual re-awakening

Yesterday I went to church for the first time in well over a year. I went back to Cathedral of Hope UCC where I am still a member, or at least think I still am. Anyway, since I have not attended in over a year I noticed a few changes when I attended yesterday, namely that there have been a bit of turnover in staff. Otherwise, the message was good, ( Read more... )

I'm glad I got a firm Lutheran Church upbringing, although they seemed to have left out the fact.... oh don't get me preachin'.

well, I was always content that the Lutherans were a mild-mannered bunch and even as a teen found out about gay Lutheran groups, so I felt they were fairly open. Most of my pastors preached more love than hate so I was happy.

BUT! The big Lutheran Lie that I never knew about was how anti-Semitic Martin Luther was and in fact, it was Luther's doctrines that Hitler used and followed in order to carry out his genocide of the Jews and the others caught up in the Nazi web of hate.

You can read my take on it here:

After returning to TX, the times we've attended anywhere in Dallas, we drive a bit further up Inwood to St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal. It has always been extremely GLBT friendly and is located at 6525 Inwood Road on the northwest corner of Inwood and Mockingbird.

I have been to St. Thomas a few times and have several friends who attend. I just find it a bit too "high church" for me though. I guess I am a bit too tied to my Baptist and Charismatic movement past...

Well done...

I haven't set foot in a Church for many, MANY years! I'm sure that their "gentle" approach will do more than to allay fears you have from previous 'cult' involvements....

Come check us out in Fort Worth sometime. We'd be happy to have you as our guest. It's First Congregational, UCC, on Trail Lake. It's turly diversified with a large mix of all kinds. I think you'd like it.
