Fannish songs - I'll show you mine...

Feb 21, 2010 18:58

I spent a large part of yesterday organizing and tagging my music and downloading new songs. I've been in a very music happy place. So, I'm stealing this from dark_reaction or being a copycat or whatever.

What songs always make you think of Sam and Dean/Supernatural? Let's make a playlist!! I'll start us off, and I'll even refrain from uploading songs ( Read more... )

show of my heart, this crack is to share, samanddean

The entire album's damn good. If you're interested, I can upload the whole thing.

Oh, dude. If I ever learn how to vid, I'm making an SPN vid to this:

"Black Soul Choir" -- 16 Horsepower

O I will forgive your wrongs
Yes I am able
An for my own I feel great shame
I would offer up a brick to the back of your head boy
If I were Cain

Also, I *adore* Something Pretty, but that came to me through an O.C. playlist years ago and so I always think of the O.C. when I listen to it. d'aww, boys.

Ha! I totally got it from an O.C. soundtrack cd! It still makes me think of the SPN boys.

Oh, the O.C.! I do love them.

Ahaha, how much do you want to bet we have the same CD?

The other day someone on twitter posted a picture of the EW cover from, like, 7 years ago (*cries at her lost youth*) with the O.C. kids on the cover and was all "awwww, nostalgia!!"

Oh god. Oh god. Where do I start. Pretty much any Magnolia Electric Co./Songs: Ohia, specifically almost the entirety of this album.

Even more specifically:

The real truth about it is my kind of life’s no better off
If I’ve got the maps or if I’m lost
The real truth about it is there ain’t no end to the desert I’ll cross
I’ve really known that all along
Farewell Transmission

I’m going to use that street to hide
from that human doubt
to hide from what was shining
and has finally burned us out
Almost Was Good Enough.

Laura Veirs' Rialto (lyrics)has been tearing me a new one because GAH. BOYS:
I could still go there
But my mind would be too loud
Sun on water
Bright colors drowning me out…

And then almost anything by Devil Makes Three pings my Samn'Dean/Supernatural Family radar, especially Old Number Seven (lyrics):
When I grew up fast I guess I grew up mean
There's a thousand things inside my head I wish I ain't seen
And now I just wondered through a real bad dream
Feelin' like I'm coming apart at the seemsBut Pete's (lead singer ( ... )

Dude, I JUST ran across a slower, earlier version of this song! Like. Today. Pete Bernhard -- A Straight Line. The harmonica just makes it gorgeously sad, which is a bummer, because I thought I finally weened myself off my own bout of single-song-looping, dammit.

(and if you're looking to mix it up a bit, Mirah's Bones & Skin is some ridiculously depressing Angel Condom!Dean.)

Dude, between your post and mine, my ipod is full of new music!! I think show-themed songs are a good way to find new artists, as you're predisposed to like it because it makes you think of the show. That's how it generally goes with me, anyway.
