OS-tan are, well, cute/sexy personifications of various OS (Operating Systems) -- the '-tan' is a "cutesy" version of the common Japanese suffix '-chan'. Many many MANY doujinshi and artwork have been produced that revolve around the supposed adventures of the girls, most of which center around WindowsME-tan, who is the first and most popular of all the characters.
