Change of Pace

So two weekends ago I went to the regional Heraldic Symposium. Wanting to get to know the heralds more and contribute to my new kingdom, I wrote up a class that I was pretty excited to teach. Some heralds at a previous event seemed intrigued by the idea, so I made up an hour long course covering period approaches to vocal heraldry, focusing on ( Read more... )

I, too, have prepared classes and workshops that could not find an audience. I consoled myself with the assurance that, were I ever asked to teach a class, I already had one prepared.

I believe there is a Midrealm e-list for heralds. Was your class advertised on it? Can you reframe the class as a discussion to lead on that list?

Remember: you aren't getting paid enough to do the SCA if it's not fun.

Getting out and meeting people will make it more fun, of course.

Spring Crown Tournament / the Midrealm A&S Faire is not to be missed.

This is why you and Kasha need to get back to Calontir. :P

*hugs*

It sucks that no one came, but it does sound like you have a plan to get back into a hobby you love. As a member of the populace of Calontir, I feel comfortable saying that being of service, being a Cross (heck, even being a Pelican) is not about always doing everything. Real life comes first and nobody expects you to do things that aren't fun without thanks. Keep being awesome and show the Middle how good vocal heraldry can be!

So sorry no one came to your class. It sure sounds good--and won't it be nice to teach it in Calontir someday? You'll have the class already prepared and ready to go. :) Seriously, I'm really glad you put this class together; it's a great idea, and I've never see it taught before (not really on my radar, so I may have missed it, but I don't think so).
