Every sci-fi film or television show depicting an alien invasion shows the same pattern; an armada of huge spaceships, often over a mile wide, descending over major cities and then leveling them using directed-energy weapons before deploying mechanized battle vehicles or soldiers. This is essentially a more high - tech version of human battle

One reason to invade Earth would be if their own planet were dying, like in the TV show "The Event."
