Mostly for my own reference later. I don't usually drink more than a glass or two at a time, so then I'm left with open bottles of wine, sitting on the counter going all vinegary.

There's also the cheaper, though manually driven, gadgets at HEB and Randall's the like. Two rubber corks come with a manual pump affectionately referred to by some as the "cork sucker," particularly after you've had to use it that evening a few times.
