Oh, this is wonderful, young Elizabeth fics are so much fun and I love how you write both her and Weatherby in this, and the relationship between them, his love for her and his awkwardness. The drastic change must have been hard on Elizabeth and I'm glad the governess is someone who becomes a friend. The writing style works very well here, too. Highly enjoyable :-)

What a delightful goodie to go with my morning coffee - better than pastry! - and I adore every bit.

"It wasn't a very steady plank," she said, all wide-eyed seriousness.
*snort* And the governor's reaction, wondering about needlepoint and dolls ... priceless!

from somewhere above, he thought he heard faint screaming and sobbing
The process of ladyfication is not a simple one, and obviously can be quite painful.

"You look--different,"
Poor Will, sounds as if he's just been punched in the stomach (which he has, of course).

Miss Thorne is a most clever creature, wooing Elizabeth with books! And the ending is wonderful - had thought (during the interview) that perhaps the governess understood her new charge a bit more than she was letting on - yay!
