They both take what they can. -- Oh, oh. Very poignant. Truth be told, I loved "Give nothing back" so much that I had to stop myself from quoting 90% of it. ;) It's gorgeous and so like them. If only they were less stubborn and wary of each other, I think they would settle their debts through sex and raw emotions. Brava!
Dawn, and the sky is full of blood. Gibbs stamps about muttering and rhyming, never a good sign.
"Cheer up, mate," Jack says. "A little rosy-fingered dawn never fazed Ulysses."
"Those fingers are a bit more than rosy, if you ask me, Cap'n. Looks like murder."
Elizabeth looks quickly away from Jack's glance and down at her own hands, stained crimson by that light; she wipes them on her coat. -- This is perfect. The exchange between Jack and Gibbs is very real, and Elizabeth's reaction paints a beautiful picture of her guilt, limned in crimson light and smeared with imaginary blood ( ... )
