My grade six teacher (who WAS married, we later found out) insisted on being called Ms. Lastname. Students, parents, the principal, when anybody slipped and called her Mrs. she would be on them like a hawk with a correction. I always liked that about her and so now I do the same with anyone who tries to call me Mrs. I figure it's not too late for Ms. to catch on.
