Ended up about an hour 20 on hold, but the lady I spoke to was a joy and fixed the problem and we made some poor schmoes wait a little longer while we chit-chatted for a "brain-break" for a few minutes. :)

My partner had a similar experience with a client. It worked out, hope yours does too.
Sorry about the stomach woes. That's unpleasant at best. I break a habit and offer no advice. You aren't dumb, and know when to seek help.
People are asshats because they are people, and because they can be asshats.
