First time I saw it was a recording of a recording and it was mostly green and it's probably my favorite Christian Bale role. (He can sing!)

Oh, but Bill Pullman.. ♥ And half the cast of Roundhouse and Aaron Lohr. ♥♥

I always felt Newsies never got a fair shake. The classic Rogers and Hammerstein musicals all started on stage before being filmed and already had a built-in audience. With that popularity, movie-first musicals had a chance. But then it went away and Disney tried to bring it back. In the 90's. *headdesk*

History and fads against them aside, I adore the moment when all the service industry joins them in the strike. And I think I have been in love with Christian Bale since that role (Batman only solidified it). :D

Really, up until Moulin Rouge.. musicals just weren't ... cool. Though, I didn't see it until after it was out on video.. I went in for Max Cassella, to be honest...

I got the cassette, soon after, and I actually marked the cast list with little stars next to the names of everyone that was on Roundhouse. LOL

I think we finally caught it once it showed on cable. But since we had Disney Channel we got ads for what was in production and I remember that. We probably would have gone to see it in the theater if we could have afforded it back then.

But yeah, I think most people went because "that other kid from Doogie Howser is in it" and were surprised by the leads.

So I'm glad to see things come full circle for it.

My biggest 'surprise' of the whole event, I think, was probably Bill Pullman. I'd only ever known him from SpaceBalls. Well, actually, I think all the kids were fantastic. And seeing David all grown up from his Big-days.. ♥

And poor Deb.. she needed more screentime. :D

But I love "High Times, Hard Times"! That's my go-to shower song. I even use the Swedish accent.

I don't know if I'm excited about this or worried. I thought Newsies was perfect the way it was -- I watch it all the time.

It's not my favorite song in the movie, but it's not THAT bad. For the love of Pete, it's Ann-Margaret. And 1899.

People just get bent out of shape for the stupidest things.

And, to be honest, half the Razzies given out are for movies I love. Go figure. :p
