Argh. Maybe I'm too precious about my pictures, maybe I'm a jumped-up artiste. But I guess if I ever want anybody else to take me seriously I'm going to have to start taking myself seriously first

Yeh, I think I've come to a point where I actually have to state 'I'm not going to retouch pictures' and accept that it will probably lose me customers/mean my work gets poked and prodded by other editors, ugh.
Although you'll have to be clear about what you mean by that - I mean, you do smooth out blemishes and tidy hair and highlight features. You just don't cut bits off or slim bits down.

Argh, thank you. One of my friends who has gotten very into portraits recently is hitting photoshop a little too hard and it bugs me.
