I loved that post and plan to add it to my resources link on website when i get a chance. You're absolutely right in saying that even if you can't afford to rent an office, you can still dedicate a space. Mine is terrific, because it's everywhere. It's outdoors. Anywhere that's outside buildings but close enough to one to plug the laptop in. Mostly, it's right outside the door of my apartment, in the breezeway that opens onto the woods behind the complex. (Which is why I have so many encounters with wildlife while I write.) When I was living with my parents, it was sitting cross-legged at the bottom of the garden with a pillow to support the notebook in my lap. I furnish my space with a tray containing a pot of tea and a cup and some nibbles. And cigarettes, though I don't recommend them ( ... )

I love this post, and the whole idea of ritual and relics to coax oneself open to creativity. I think I'd like to try to form more pre-writing rituals than checking Twitter and making a cup of tea. (The tea is good, the Twitter less so.)
