This seems to be my recurring advice lately: Boot with Ubuntu. You may need to get the special mac compatible thingy if it doesn't let you boot from non-apple cds or whatever. But It'll let you back everything up if you do need to wipe everything.

Thank you for the tips. The hard drive brokededed. Luckily, there wasn't much to wipe. Sucks losing all my recording files, but oh well.
