Okay, I know that there are knitters among you, but I don't know if this is something you would ... interested in knowing this exists. And by knowing it exists, I don't mean actually doing it. Hopefully you can watch the video - it's interesting, but confronting. I'm going to admit that I am not comfortable with it. But, differences make the world ( Read more... )

On the practical side (and apart from the other thing), there is no way I would knit with damp yarn and will always stop immediately when I get sweaty hands. Though it might possibly be less annoying when like her you don't knit continental style and the sticky yarn doesn't cut into your finger and hand you have it wrapped around.

Apart from that I'm afraid I don't have much appreciation for modern art, and am very often too dumb to get it. I see that it is interesting but here it ends. ;-) And I'm unconvinced she'll get the effect she is aiming for with that.

(I also can't spell, sorry for all the editing)

I like my art to be art. Give me a painting or a sculpture and I'm happy. Wait, that should read give me a painting of a landscape or a person and sculpture of something that is easily recognisable and I'm happy.

All I could think when watching the piece on this art installation, was "Surely she'd end up with an infection by the end?" and as a scarf, it's not very practical. Extremely long and white (in most places.

I don't think it's a case of being too dumb to get modern art, I think it's a case of a lot of people having a case of "The Emperor's New Clothes." and saying it's good because someone important said it was good.
