Voice-Acting for Angelic Life? You decide.

Nov 30, 2007 23:39

I've been thinking quite awhile if I should make voice acting for the characters in Angelic Life. One part of me thinks: "Perhaps it'll be better if the character's voices are left to the players imagination." and "Perhaps the voice-actors will ruin the characters..." but on the other hand the other part of me also thinks: "Voice acting ... that's ( Read more... )

Nice to hear that! :) I'd be really interested in hearing your voice to see if you would fit any of the characters I have in mind.

Please record a clip of your voice and send it to my email: berra870927@hotmail.com and I'll let you know what I think.

Hmm that's a difficult one. I really like voice acting, but usually user-made voice acting isn't that good. Especially the "technical" quality is almost always very bad. But with some good equipment (good microphones !) and motivated speakers...why not

Try, if possible to have native speakers or, at least, people very proficient in english. Would be weird to have a halfling rogue with a swedish accent... on the other hand, maybe it would be very funny... so... I'm not sure. Do what you think is best!

If it falls on that voice acting should be included, I'll not use people with swedish accent. I promise. :D

I'll try to find as talented people as possible for the voice acting part.

I think VO is hard, my inclination is 3, its too hard to get it right. Text that fits the setting and action can seem wrong if the actor doesn't hit it right.

Anyway I feel VO more often detracts than improves a game, if it works you don't really notice it, when it fails its jarring.

I will keep your comment in mind.

I will only include Voice acting if the voice actors are really good and fits the theme well. But the votes here will decide if that will happen or not. Thank you for giving your opinion & vote! :)

No, because I find voice acting really annoying for the following reasons:
1. I usually end up reading the dialog very quickly. Then I have to wait for the voice actor to finish talking, or some times I just skip it, which is kind of weird because I'll break them off mid sentence and then they'll start again. So unless you only have a few lines voiced over, to give a feel for the character, it'd mostly be a nuisance(for me)
2. The large files take a lot of space on one's hard drive
3. It uses up extra time that could be used improving the module in more efficient ways

Thank you for giving your opinion and telling me about your side of things! They're noted. :)

We'll see how it goes. The total votes here will decide if there will- or will not be voice acting.
